By having set priority in favour of the public transport since the implementation of exclusive lanes for express buses in 1974, Curitiba has been a milestone in the public transport area, reinforced with the current implementation of the Green Line, the sixth bus corridor of the city and the greatest urban enterprise since the 70s. The public transport has organized the growing of Curitiba, opened frontiers and made socio-economical and environmental development possible in the city and the metropolitan region which is comprised of 26 municipalities and 3,2 million inhabitants.
